Our baby leaf crops are harvested mechanically with machines that straddle the flat beds of leaves, cut and lift into totes, which are palletized onto trailers. The product is then quickly vacuum cooled to 36F, which removes the field heat and is a safe and rapid method of cooling.
As the harvester advance forward, the leaves move up over the machine by conveyor, and into harvest totes.
Once cooled, the cold chain is not broken going forward, as the product is then loaded onto refrigerated trucks, brought to our cold facility, where it’s washed and packed all at temperatures between 36-38F.

We harvest early in the morning, before the field heat builds up in the vegetables.
